ESCAPING THE EAST COAST AHEAD OF SANDY AND NOW GETTING READY FOR THE HOLIDAY SHOW

For my birthday I decided we should visit family on the east coast.  We set out on October 17th and flew into Philadelphia.  We spent several days seeing Christopher and other family.  Christopher is presently in a play called “Sacred Cows make the best Hamburgers”, based on some of Mark Twain’s writing.  During that time we got to see Moriah, our lovely daughter-in-law, her mother Lisa Mason (visiting from Ohio) and Cynthia and Randy O’Neill (Bob’s sister and bro-in-law).  We then hit the road on 10/23 for a 12 hour drive to visit my brother and his family.  Had a great time hiking through his beautiful acreage in the mountains of North Carolina.  On the 26th we set out to see Bob’s brother Wayne,in Ithaca NY.  We planned to stay there until the 29th, stay with Cynthia and Randy in NJ, and then fly from Philadelphia back home on 10/31 (today).  We were in the middle of our 14 hour drive between Spruce Pine, NC and Ithaca, NY when we started hearing about Sandy.  We called Wayne, who happens to be a meteorologist and, for the first time, I heard him use the term “perfect storm”.  He told us, if we could get a flight home, do it.  It cost us $$$ as the airlines were still “monitoring the storm”.  When we realize what our last few days, and possibly more days in the future, would have been had we not flown out, money means nothing and we are forever in Wayne’s debt.

Wonderful time in the country, meeting new friends and excited by seeing old friends I haven’t seen in a LONG time

Beavercreek Art Sale and Studio Tour was wonderful this past weekend.  Since I am a new member of this group, I was excited to meet the artists, many of whom have been a part of this tour for 10 years.  The next tour has not yet been scheduled but should be June 2013.  There was a lot of positive feedback from the public and many return clients to the established artists.  Very high caliber art here.  Consider this for next June.  I will keep you posted.

My next show will be Three Rivers Artist Guild Holiday Show and Sale  December 1 and 2 at the Oregon City Pioneer Center.  I am one of the chairpersons so this better be good.

The weather has finally changed.  I miss the sunshine but I love the smell and sound of the rain.  All the colors seem to pop in the grey.  The birds are noisy, fighting over the Mountain Ash berries and the acorns.  Life slows down a little this time of year.  We all need to be part of that.
